Serve & care
Women’s Fellowship

The Women’s Fellowship of OCC is a widely diversified group of ladies dedicated to ‘serve’. These ladies are dedicated to the service of the Lord, family, church family, community and world. Bereavement meals for our families who have lost loved ones and Sunshine Meals for those returning from the hospital have long been a part of our organization. Bridal showers for the new bride and groom are a delightful time for all. Each Sunday one of the ladies provide a bountiful table of goodies to enjoy during a time of fellowship before and after worship service.
Recently the ladies of the church began a prayer support for the faculty and staff of Lewis Cass High School and Thompson Elementary School. Each month two ladies take donuts, a tray of homemade goodies or a relish tray to the school. This is not only a show of encouragement, but it is also a reminder to the school personnel of the prayer support which we are providing them. Each month two ladies also encourage and support members of our church family who are in the military and college. Food coupons, food treats, magazines and other items are sent along with a large ‘finals’ box each semester. Support for young families is given with free baby-sitting the first Saturday of each month.

Mission support is a primary focus of our group. Over three thousand five hundred dollars is sent annually to the following Purdue Campus House, Janice Hinkle’s Kenya Mission, Walton Food Bank, Rainbow Christian Camp, Emmaus Mission, Weekday Religious Education, Jamie McConnell’s mission support, and Andrea Zeck’s ministry. Our ladies also serve a meal to community children after our Community Easter Egg Hunt, prepare Christmas and Easter baskets for the elderly and shut-ins, support Relay for Life, donate homemade noodles to the V.F.W. to help Friends of Wounded Families, sponsor food drives for Rainbow Christian Camp, Emmaus Mission and the Walton Area Food Bank. During the year other projects are picked-up as the need arises.
Perhaps the ‘trademark’ of the group would be defined in one word…NOODLES. Since 1974 the ladies have hosted a Chicken and Noodle Supper. To prepare for this dinner they make homemade noodles. About 100 pounds are cooked to the nearly 1000 friends, family and neighbors who join us. The request for noodles began to grow. At present over 1500 pounds of noodles are made each year. These noodles are provided to members and friends of the church.
